Firefighters needed nearly an hour to put out a blaze Monday that started in a truck and spread to nearby brush in western Gastonia, officials said.
Authorities said the fire started in the engine of a pick-up truck on a logging trail off Diane 29 Drive-In Road, between U.S. 74 and I-85. The fire spread into nearby brush and woods, officials said.
Crews from the Gastonia Fire Department and Crowder’s Mountain Fire and Rescue used two brush trucks to help contain the blaze. A total of 15 firefighters were involved in the effort.
No injuries were reported. Officials said the truck was destroyed.
