More than 1,000 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students got a vivid lesson on the impact of their choices this week, touring a bus that includes a replica of a jail cell. “The Choice Bus,” sponsored by State Farm insurance and the Alabama-based Mattie C. Stewart Foundation, is designed to show students that if they don’t opt to focus on academic success they could face a bleak future.
Performance Learning Center, Harding and West Mecklenburg high schools, Albemarle Road Middle School and Ashley Park and Westerly Hills preK-8 are on the Choice Bus schedule. The goal is reducing dropout rates and boosting understanding that education leads to lifelong earning benefits.
