The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition recently selected Catawba County Public Health to receive a 2014 Community Leadership Award.
With a focus on nutrition, Catawba County Public Health received this award for the launch of its farmers market in 2013. The market increases access to fresh fruits and vegetables for Women, Infants, and Children program participants through improved use of WIC farmers market nutritional program vouchers.
The Catawba County Public Health Farmers Market is open to the public and is held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays in Public Health’s parking lot, 3070 11th Ave. Drive SE, Hickory.
