A program to help Rowan County residents and businesses install solar energy systems is set to begin Thursday.
Solarize Salisbury-Rowan cuts costs by using competitive bids by pre-approved installers. It’s a partnership of the national nonprofit SmartPower and the Center for the Environment at Catawba College.
Solar panel costs have dropped in recent years, but North Carolina’s 35 percent tax credit and a 30 percent federal credit for solar installations expire at the end of 2015 and 2016.
