Ten acres of rolling hills and fields on N.C. 73 near the intersection of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Iredell counties are being saved from development thanks to a first-of-its-kind partnership in the state involving three local conservation groups: the Davidson Lands Conservancy, the LandTrust for Central North Carolina, and the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District. The land, in a rapidly growing part of Cabarrus, could eventually be transferred to another entity for use as a park, community garden or other conservation project, officials said.
