Erik Nieman has been swimming since he was 3 – with cystic fibrosis. Now 15, he swims competitively in his home town of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He wants to improve, so with the help of Make-A-Wish Foundation he came to Queens University Levine Athletic Center’s aquatic facility to train with the best, Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte.
“My personal goal is to make it to the Olympics, but I know that making the Olympics is very hard for someone with a life-threatening disease” he says. “My goal is to bring hope to everybody else.”
