A meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., to discuss a quarter-cent sales tax increase referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot. Representatives from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be on hand. The proposed tax increase is expected to generate $35 million a year. Mecklenburg County commissioners plan to give 80 percent to CMS and the rest to CPCC, the library system, and the Arts & Science Council. Staff Reports
