The Steps for Change Awareness Walk traversed uptown Charlotte on Wednesday to raise money for victims of domestic violence in Charlotte. The annual event is organized by prosecutors in the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office.
Organizers charged $10 per person to participate, with proceeds benefiting Safe Alliance’s Clyde and Ethel Dickson Shelter for Battered Women. The facility has 80 beds and offers support groups and legal advocacy.
