The 6th annual UNC Charlotte 49ers for Life blood drive kicked off inside Halton Area on Tuesday.
The drive is timed for winter, which is one of the most difficult times of the year to collect enough blood and platelets to meet patient needs.
The goal of this year’s drive is to collect 1,000 pints of blood, surpassing the 926 pints collected in last year’s drive. Each pint of donated blood can save three lives, organizers said. David T. Foster III
