Samaritan’s Feet International teamed up with Northwestern Mutual on Thursday for a free shoe distribution at Hidden Valley Elementary School. The event was part of a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. More than 1,000 students got a new pair of shoes and socks, and they had their feet washed by community volunteers. The event is one of seven shoe distributions being held across the United States this year for the National Day of Service, which will give away more than 2,200 pairs of shoes. The goal of Samaritan’s Feet is to provide 10 million pairs of shoes for children in the next 10 years.
