Two named to GOP board

ROCK HILL - Diane Carr of Lake Wylie and Glenda Rawlings of Rock Hill have been appointed to the board of the National Federation of Republican Women during the 2008-2009 term.

Carr, president of the York County Republican Women, will serve as vice-chariman on the Caring for America Committee.

Rawlings, chairwoman of the group's legislative committee, will serve on the Homeland Security Committee.

Both women recently joined more than 275 leaders of the National Federation of Republican Women for afternoon tea at the White House on March 12.

First Lady Laura Bush invited the NFRW to the White House to thank members for participating in education and literacy programs. The NFRW's Capitol Regents also met with President George W. Bush in the Oval Office.

"This was my first visit to the White House for tea," Rawlings said. "I can tell you we are energized and looking forward to electing John McCain as our next president."
