LAKE WYLIE -- The construction crews along S.C. 49 in Lake Wylie could be here through the end of the month, or longer.
South Carolina Department of Transportation's work to resurface all four lanes between Three Points and Buster Boyd Bridge began last week because of calls about potholes and other uneven surfaces. A contract came in several months ago, said Heather Worthy with SCDOT's construction department.
Worthy could not say how long the project would take, saying it is one of three on the current contract and the weather will have a "major impact" in construction length.
"The weather plays a big role," she said. "It's almost impossible to say exactly how long it will take. If they don't have any interruptions in any way, it should get moved within the month."

She also advises drivers to "slow down.'
Plans are to begin work no earlier than 9 a.m. and finish by 4:30 p.m. daily when possible, Worthy said, plus possible weekend work.
