The annual sterile Asian grass carp stocking to combat a growing hydrilla population will take place May 29. Lake Wylie will be the last of six North Carolina lakes receiving the fish from Arkansas that day. Last year, 600 fish arrived to combat about 10 acres, while the hydrilla population is almost 10 times higher this year. In total, 1,800 fish will be delivered in two locations -- one in Belmont near the I-85 bridge and the other in Mecklenburg County at The Vineyards.
