TEGA CAY -- The annual Spring Pick-Me-Up will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, sponsored by the Tega Cay Beautification Committee. Residents are encouraged to remove unsightly materials from their property, repair neglected structures and cut overgrown plants.
Volunteers -- who should should wear old clothes and bring gloves, rakes and pruning shears -- should meet at Turner Field. The Ski Team will tackle Windjammer Park , while Den 7 and Cobra Cub Scouts of Pack 250 will work at the greenway on Tara Tea Drive.
A picnic lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Pitcairn Park.
The city will offer curbside pick-up, at no extra charge, Monday-April 25 for yard debris and small household items. Limbs no longer than 5 feet and no more than 4 inches in diameter, bagged loose debris, leaves and unusable small household items must be placed by the curb.

The city also will offer a half-price discount on items that require a disposal fee, if paid before Saturday. Tree parts larger than 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 5 feet will be $25 per pickup truckload. Large house items, such as chairs and sofas, cost $25 each. Refrigerators and freezers are $50 each and require freon-free certification. Construction material costs $75 for pickup truckload. Roofing materials are not accepted.
