FORT MILL — A suspect has been identified in the Jan. 4 killing at a Fort Mill convenience store, said Capt. Bryan Zachary of the Fort Mill Police Department.Police did not release the name of the “person of interest.”

No charges have been filed and no one is in custody, Zachary said.

No arrest has been made in the shooting death of Mahendrabhai “Omar” Patel, 48, of Charlotte, who owned and operated the Sunoco Petro Mart at 810 Tom Hall Street. In this case the person of interest can be equated to a suspect, Zachary said.

The State Law Enforcement Division continues to investigate along with Fort Mill police, Zachary said.
