LANCASTER — Officials are investigating a derailed train in the city ofLancaster that crashed into a convenience store.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. today at the Buy Rite Discount Beveragestore at 509 S. Main St., said Capt. Harlean Howard of the Lancaster PoliceDepartment.
The cause of the derailment is unknown, but the crash seriously injured oneman who had to be airlifted to Richland Memorial Hospital, Howard said.
Howard didn't know if the injured man was on the train or a pedestrian. Theman's name has not been released. L&C Railway, Comporium, Duke Power, the Lancaster fire and policedepartments and EMS were all at the scene.
