Lindemann beats Updike; McNeely faces runoff

York County Council member Jeff Updike went down to defeat Tuesday night to challenger Paul Lindemann in the GOP primary. Lindemann received about 55 percent of the votes cast in District 1, which represents the Fort Mill and Tega Cay area, and will be unopposed in the November election.

Also Tuesday, County Council Chairman Steve McNeely failed to get more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the Republican primary for the District 3 seat and will face Sharon Mayor Joseph Cox in a run-off election.
