Elihu Armstrong

CHESTER -- Mr. William Elihu Armstrong, 87, of 532 Pineview Lakes Road, died Monday June 25, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Purity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Don Simpson and Dr. Allen Derrick officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Armstrong, born June 7, 1920 in Fort Lawn, was a son of the late Forney R. Armstrong and Mattie Ferguson Armstrong. A graduate of Chester County schools, he was a retired barber and owner of Armstrong's Grocery in Richburg. Mr. Armstrong was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Dalton Armstrong; son, William H. Armstrong of Rock Hill; daughter, Mary Ann Kohli of Charleston; two grandchildren; stepson, Herbert Lee Love Jr. of Charlotte; stepdaughters, Linda Carol Endres of Trout Dale, Oregon, Judy Ann Mobley of Chester and Kathy Thomas of Chester; brothers, Frank Armstrong of Odon, Ind., Thomas K. "Doc" Armstrong of Orangeburg and Daniel M. Armstrong of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Purity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Chester, SC 29706.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
