LANCASTER -- Mrs. Mildred Barnhardt Gales Wallace, 88, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wallace will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2007, at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Revs. Pat Minihane and David Gales officiating. Burial will be at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Kannapolis, N.C., a daughter of the late Will F. Barnhardt and Eva Rose King Barnhardt.
She was twice widowed, by Rev. F. W. Gales and Mr. John Wallace. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by a daughter, Shirley Gales Guyton of York; a stepson, Tony Wallace of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Karen Steele Burbach, Marvin Steele and his wife, Sherry, Tripp Pate, Rita Steele and Sandra Wilkins; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Steele, Wesley Barrett, Courtney Chisom and Matthew Wilkins; a sister, Thelma Marshall of Kannapolis; and a brother, Bobby Barnhardt from Sarasota, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Lowder; two brothers, James Barnhardt and Frank Barnhardt; and a grandson, Melvin Steele.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Lancaster Funeral Home.
