LAKE WYLIE -- Addie B. Marra, 92, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2007, at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill, S.C.

Addie was born in Augusta, Ga. on March 11, 1915, to Mamie Shields Bentley and Walter Franklin Bentley.

After graduating from Tubman High School for Girls in Augusta, Ga., she attended the Junior College of Augusta, the University of Georgia and later Florida Southern University.

She was widowed by her first husband, Capt. William H. Perkins, who was a casualty of World War II. She began her thirty-year career in the insurance industry following World War II, retiring as assistant vice-president of First of Georgia Insurance.

For many years she was active in the local and state chapters of the National Association of Insurance Women and served as its president at the national level.

Addie was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church her entire life. Her loving kindness and goodness were exemplified not only to her family, but also to her many friends as well.

Mrs. Marra was preceded in death by her husband of over 35 years, Carmen C. Marra, as well as her parents and her brother, W.F. Bentley Jr.

She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Dolly B. Hogan of Augusta, Ga. and Phyllis B. and Vernon Fox of Martinez, Ga.; her daughter and son-in-law, Harriette Perkins Reed and Jim Reed of Lake Wylie; her sons and daughter-in-law, William H. Perkins Jr. of Macon, Ga. and Charles S. and Candy Marra of Chapin, S.C.; grandchildren, Paul Schlirf and wife, Nancy of Woodlands, Texas, Mark Schlirf and wife, Anna of Lake Wylie, Christopher Marra of Aiken, S.C., Clay and Chad Marra of Chapin; great-grandchildren, Laura Schlirf of Fort Worth, Texas, John Schlirf of Woodlands, Texas, and Austin and Will Schlirf of Lake Wylie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Willowbrook Court at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill for their many kindnesses to her during the last four years, as well as to members of Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill.

Memorial services will be performed at Westover Cemetery in Augusta, Ga. at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home of Clover, S.C. is serving the family of Mrs. Marra.
