CONWAY -- Mrs. Verbenia Hyatt Shelley, 85, wife of the late Estil M. Shelley, of Pee Dee Highway, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Conway Medical Center.
Mrs. Shelley was born in Columbus County, N.C., the daughter of the late Murray and Lela Turbeville Hyatt. She was a former member of Good Hope Baptist Church and current member of Pauley Swamp Baptist Church. Mrs. Shelley retired from AVX in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was predeceased by two brothers, Earl and Oneal Hyatt and a sister, Margie Shelley.
Survivors include two sons, Vollie B. Shelley and his wife, Liz of Durham, N.C., and Rick E. Shelley and his wife, Judy of Conway; two daughters, Betty M. Polk and her husband, Tommy of Rock Hill, S.C., and Barbara S. Graham and her husband, Jimmy of Conway; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Hyatt and his wife, Alma and Dewey Hyatt and his wife, Wanda, all of Rock Hill; three sisters, Daisy Hardee of Conway and Retha Fowler and Edna Manning and her husband, J.C., all of Rock Hill.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, with Dr. Terry Grainger officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
