Pete Chappell

ROCK HILL -- Mr. Warren Jackson "Pete" Chappell, 75, of 4670 Mobley Store Road, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Scoggins and Bishop Carson Blue officiating. The family will receive friends at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home today, July 14, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. and at other times at the home, 4670 Mobley Store Road, Rock Hill.

Born in York County, S.C., He was a son of the late John Henry Chappell and Eva Porter Chappell. He attended Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Army Korean veteran, serving with the 765th Railway Battalion from 1953 to 1955 . He was a member of the S.C. Young Farmers Association , was a member of the S.C. Cattleman's Association and was a former member of the York County Soil Conservation Board. He was a retired farmer and cotton gin owner -operator.

He was predeceased by His wife, Harvey Sue Neely Chappell; and four brothers, Jack Chappell Jr., Bill Chappell, Phil Chappell and Booney Chappell.

He is survived by three daughters, Miriam Sue Chappell, Nancy Joyce Chappell and Amanda Neely Chappell-Helms, all of Rock Hill; three brothers, Curwood Chappell of Rock Hill, Rudolph Chappell of Chester, S.C., and Melton Chappell Of Vista ,Calif.; and one sister, Joyce Chappell Abbott of Darlington, S.C.; one grandchild; and a special friend, Barbara B. Westbrook of Edgemoor, S.C.
