Cornelia Ann Helms

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Cornelia Ann Helms, formerly of Fort Mill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, surrounded by her family. Cornelia was born on January 26, 1920 in Fort Mill and recently resided at The Atrium in Jacksonville.

Cornelia was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Vander and Carrie Robertson; her brothers; Earl, Ezell and Randolph; and her husband of 67 years, Stacy L. Helms. She is survived by her sister, Dovie Hunter; two daughters, Phyllis Lowder and Sheri Sutton; five grandchildren, Kimball L. Lowder (Roxanne), Gregory D. Lowder (Christine), Stacie S. Carter (Stephen), Heather Beth Sutton, Rebecca Ann Zelanko (Ari); and six great-grandchildren, Bryan Lowder, Katie Lowder, Kendall Lowder, Travis Carter, Madeline Carter and Olivia Ann Zelanko.

Cornelia worked for Springs Mills before beginning a 30-year career with Stanley Home Products. She was a gifted saleswoman who received recognition for her outstanding performance many times over. Cornelia was devoted to her family, especially her daughters. She worked to ensure Sheri and Phyllis had access to the finer things in life that she had missed in her own childhood. Her love for her husband was an inspiration to her family and friends. Cornelia joined Stacy in heaven two years after his death, her love for him stronger than ever. Her dedication to her family was exceeded only by her love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, whom she is with today.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 16, at Neptune Baptist Church, with viewing from noon to 1 p.m. Rev. Tom Bary will preside. Interment will follow at Beaches Memorial Park in Atlantic Beach.
