TEGA CAY -- Mr. Knox Polk Tabb died Sunday, July 15, 2007. He was born April 3, 1928 in Blakely, Ga. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lee Tabb. After serving a year with the U.S. Army in Korea, he attended Emory University, graduating in 1950. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Mr. Tabb went to work for the Coca-Cola Co. of Atlanta, Ga. In 1952 he married Shirley Doak of Dothan, Ala. After several positions with the company in the Southeast, he became a District Manager in Miami, Fla. and then Regional Manager for the state of Florida. Moving to Charlotte in 1976, he served as Zone Manager of the South Atlantic Region for Coke and retired at age 57.
Retiring in Tega Cay, S.C., he worked on the City's Finance Committee, the Beautification Committee and Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Tabb is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Doak Tabb; his son, Zolly Tabb and wife, Pamela of Sarasota, Fla., and grandsons, Michael and Ian Tabb; his son, Knox Polk Tabb Jr. and wife Missy, of Duluth, Ga., grandson, Jimmy and wife, Deval and great-granddaughter Leela of San Diego, Calif., granddaughter, Elizabeth Marbut and husband, Jimmy and great-grandchildren, Bailey and Seth, his grandson, Knox Polk Tabb III and granddaughter, Taylor Tabb; and his daughter, Teresa Tabb Gibson and husband, Wyatt of Fort Mill, S.C., and grandsons, Chase and Cody Gibson.
A memorial service will be Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church on Hwy 160 West.
