PINEVILLE, N.C. -- Mrs. Jean Kottyan, 78, died July 17, 2007 at Carolina's Medical Center, Pineville after a short illness.
Mrs. Kottyan spent most of her life living in Ohio and relocated to Charlotte a year ago from Zephyrhills, Fla. to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. She was a resident of the Dorchester Retirement Community in Pineville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Kottyan in 1991 and her great-granddaughter Amelia Kottyan in 2007.
Survivors include her sons, Michael and his wife, Mary of Broomfield, Colo., Tim and his wife, Carole of Tega Cay, S.C., Nicholas and his wife, Melanie of Clemmons, N.C., and Matt and his wife, Cathy of Augusta, Ga.; and her brother, Jack and his wife, Marcine of Galion, Ohio. She also has six grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jean was very active in her church and was a very caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived life to the fullest with abundant zest. Her favorite time was walking for hours on the beach with the sand between her toes.
The family will receive friends and family today, July 19, 2007, at the Pineville Chapel of McEwen Funeral Home, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, from 7 until 9 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 in the Day Chapel of St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, with the Rev. Patrick Cahill, Celebrant. She will be interned alongside her husband at the Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
