ROCK HILL -- Mr. Dewey D. "Mr. DYZ" Barnette, 59, of 421 Pendleton St., was born Feb. 3, 1948 in York County, S.C. He was the son of the late James "JC" Barnette and Essie Mae McMoore Barnette. God called him to eternal rest on Monday, July 16, 2007, at the home of his twin sister, Donetta.
Dewey was a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church. He was a former resident of Washington, D.C., where he retired as an employee of the University of Maryland in College Park.
Mr. Barnette was a 1966 graduate of Emmett Scott High School. Dewey attended the University of Maryland and Staten Island Community College in Staten Island, N.Y.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by four brothers, James C. "June" Barnette, Charles R. Barnette, and Lorenzo "Mack" Barnette (Julia), all of Rock Hill, S.C., and Steven A. Barnette (Debra) of Edgemoor, S.C.; four sisters, twin sister, Donetta B. Smith (Murrie), Clementine B. Mitchell (Jimmy) and Angela F. Barnette, all of Rock Hill and Brenda S. Barnette of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 19, 2007 at Parker Funeral Home. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Mount Hebron Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.L. Robertson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
