Ben Adams

ROCK HILL -- Mr. Benjamin "Ben" Adams of 1776 Aaron Ave., Rock Hill, S.C., died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at New Home AME Zion Church, with Pastor Charles Darden Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of York, S.C., he was the son of the late Catherine Dixon Adams and the late Leon Adams. He was a member of New Home AME Zion Church and graduated in 1958 from Roosevelt High School in Clover, S.C. He retired from Field Crest Cannon Mills as a supervisor, and he also worked for Rock Hill Schools as a bus driver. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Elix Adams, Willie Adams and Cornel Adams.

He is survived by his four sons, Joseph Adams of Charlotte, Andre Adams and Darius (Kathy) Bradley, both of Washington, D.C., and William Hinton of Rock Hill; two daughters, Sharon (Kevin) Raynor and Jernell Adams, both of Capital Heights, Md.; three sisters, Isabella Pressley of Columbia, S.C., Annie Lee Pettus of York and Mae Bell (Bobby) Giles of Gastonia, N.C.; two brothers, Robert M. Adams and Lonnie Adams, both of York; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at King Funeral Home, Chris King Memorial Chapel, 331 East Main St., Rock Hill and other times at the home.
