ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Lessie Murray Walker, departed this life on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, S.C. She was born May 23, 1923 to the late Eliza Bryant Murray and William P. Murray.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, at White Hill AME Zion Church in York, S.C., with the Rev. Billy Wilson delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in White Hill Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker grew up in York County, S.C., and was educated in the York County public schools. She also finished school as a Midwife (home birth assistant). She joined White Hill AME Zion Church at an early age, where she served with the Missionary and the Women's Club until her health declined.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, the late Mr. William "Bub" Walker; her son, James (Jimmy) Murray; three sisters; and two brothers.

Surviving to cherish fond memories are two daughters, Mrs. Louise Cathcart (Roscoe) of York, S.C., and Mrs. Vanessa Neely (Charles) of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sons, Dennis Walker (Debbie) of Hephzibah, Ga., Donald Walker (Janie) of Lancaster, S.C., Tony Walker (Christfima) of Gastonia, N.C., and Stanley Walker (Sabrina) of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Doretha Murray of York, S.C.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the chapel of Wright Funeral Home in York and other times at the home of Louise Cathcart, 439 Hidden Lake Drive, York.
