YORK -- Mr. Dewey Hamilton Jackson, 85, of 516 E. Old Limestone Road died Wednesday, July 25, 2007.
There will be a graveside service 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery in York. The Rev. Thomas B. McPhail will be officiating.
A native of York, S.C., Dewey Jackson was a son of the late William W. Jackson and Mae Childers Jackson and the widower of the late Katherine Kelly Jackson. He was a member of Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder. He was a retired fighter pilot in the United States Marines Corp. He served in the Marines during World War II and received two Distinguished flying crosses, seven air medals, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Presidential United Citation, South Pacific Campaign- seven Battle Stars, Korean Ribbon with eight Battle Stars, Navy Unit Citation, and numerous Campaign Medals.
He is survived by two sons, William Kelly Jackson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and John Monroe Jackson of York; his daughter, Katherine Diane Jackson of Durham, N.C.; his sister, Olivia Rogers of Lake Wylie, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Hamilton Jackson, Judd Edward Jackson and Alex Tyndill Jackson, all of Myrtle Beach. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Audrey, Leon and Earl Jackson and a sister, Joanne Tiller.
