CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charles Cary Holt, 72, a longtime resident of Charlotte, died August 15, 2007, at his residence, after several years of battling illness.
Cary was born in Salisbury, N.C., Sept. 23, 1934, to the late Cecil and Obelea Holt. He was raised in Spencer, N.C., graduating from Spencer High School class of 1952. After graduating from Mars Hill College, Cary began a working career with General Electric Corp., Weyerhaeuser, and later retiring from the U.S. Census Bureau in 1996.
Mr. Holt appreciated the simple things in life; admiring vintage automobiles, enjoying conversations with close friends and neighbors, and time spent with family. He attended Dilworth Baptist Church. He was preceded in death in 2000, by his wife Katherine Holt.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Norris and son-in-law, Frank; son, David Holt and daughter-in-law, Carol; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Benjamin and Michael.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Hankins & Whittington, with the funeral service to start at 11a.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
