ROCK HILL -- Mr. Albert Glenn Baker Sr., 83, of Rock Hill died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Eden Gardens in Rock Hill.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jimmy Napier, Jerry Devinney and Hubert Faulkenberry officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road
Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Baker was the son of the late Johnny Rufus Baker and Bertha Mae Eubanks Baker. He was married to the late Alma Ruth Rodgers Baker and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a building contractor, a member of the American Legion and a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School director, teacher and choir director.
Mr. Baker is survived by his son, Albert Glenn Baker Jr. and wife, Kay of Rock Hill; his daughter, Glenna Ruth Baker Ratliff and husband, Barry of Rock Hill; two brothers, Paul Baker of Rock Hill and Earl Baker of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one sister, Shirley Munn of Albemarle, N.C.; and nine grandchildren, Michael and Mitchell Faulk, Mandi Alvarado, Meredith Carter, Weston Baker and Sara, Daniel, Magan, and Joshua Ratliff.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 4 at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E White St., Rock Hill and other times at the home of Albert and Kay Baker, 1508 Clay Hills Drive, Rock Hill .
