ROCK HILL -- Pete Hart, 68, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family, on Aug. 4, 2007. Peter will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1939, to Burton and Dahlia Grace Hall Hart in Canastota, N.Y. Later, he obtained an associates degree from Morrisville College in Morrisville, N.Y. Mr. Hart was a Vietnam veteran, a member of the American Legion for 22 years and a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. For 35 years of his adult life he was a food service director for different colleges and universities.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hart of Rock Hill; two sons, Scott and his wife, Melissa of Charlestown, N.H. and Dave and his wife, Mary Beth of Charlotte; four grandsons, Christopher, David, Sean and Mason Hart; three sisters, Patience Windsor of Turtle Point, Penn., Joanna Dowd of Chesapeake, Va. and Cynthia Mantay of Newport News, Va.; a half sister, Rebecca Merrifield of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; and half brother, Clarence Mason.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, with Father John Giuliani officiating. Later that same day, at 2 p.m., there will be a mausoleum committal at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28212.
