LANCASTER -- Mr. Bryan Fred Blackmon, 75, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at his home. Born Jan. 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Fred Ezell and Clara Baker Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was a self-employed blacksmith and horse trainer. He was inducted into the Carolina Horsemen's Hall of Fame in the year 2000 by the United Professional Horsemen's Association. He was also a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Mr. Blackmon is survived by daughters, Jeannie Mills of Sharon and Brenda Franklin of Fort Mill; a sister, Elsie Russell of Union; brothers, Chalmers and Donald Blackmon, both of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Blackmon.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Sumner and the Rev. Pat Minihane officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.
