YORK -- Mr. Lloyd Washington Laing began life on Jan. 1, 1944, a son of the late Edmund and Aremilda Laing of Freeport, Grand Bahamas Island.
The family will have a viewing on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007 at Wright Funeral Home in York, S.C.. from 6 until 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Smith's Point Cemetery in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island at a later date.
A native of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island he attended the school of Pine Ridge in Grand Bahama, and though he had his share of trouble, in 1974 he made his journey to the United States and found York, S.C. While there, he became an entrepreneur and opened his own business in drywall construction and worked for many many years as founder of Quality Drywall.
He allowed his life to blossom just as a flower does and left seeds of love and hope in the form of his loving wife of thirty years, Mary E. Laing; three sons, Walter Laing, Larry Laing and Godfrey Laing of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island; five daughters, Sandra Laing, Marsha Laing and Marylin McPhee (Edwin), all of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island and Jennifer Hinton (Michael) and Katie Laing (Kevin) of York, S.C.; his grandchildren, Bianca Strachan, Casmere Maycock, Chavez Lewis, Kaliyah McPhee, Karina McPhee, Keiron Laing, Shontovia Hinton, Michael Hinton Jr., and Ahmad Hinton; three sisters, Eudene Hield (Solomon), Mizpah Young (Gladston) and Selva Cooper, all of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island; one aunt, Rejorna Ross of Detroit, Mich.; two godchildren, Janet Hefney (David) of Charlotte, N.C., and Kristen Floyd of York, S.C.; two long time friends, Tommie Burris and John Williams of York, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Agape Hospice and the American Cancer Society in honor of Lloyd W. Laing. Just as a flower his life faded too soon, but his memory will never fade. Rest beloved husband, father, brother and uncle. Until we meet again.
