ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Bobbie Smith, 56, of 455 Fewell St. passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at her home. She was born March 5, 1951, the daughter of Maggie Brown and the late Clarence Walker.
Raised in a Christian home, she confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Rehoboth AME Church. She later moved her membership to Gethsemane Church in Rock Hill, S.C., where she served in the choir, usher board and pastor's aid. She was educated in the public schools of York County and was later employed by the district.
She is survived by her spouse of 37 years, Walker "Hambone" Smith; her mother, Maggie Brown of Rock Hill; three children, Robert, Quincy and Marcella Smith, all of Rock Hill; two grandchildren, Chastidy and Alaysia McClary of Rock Hill; five sisters and one brother, Carrie (Thomas)Venable of Rock Hill, Mattie Hope of Rock Hill, Melvin (Darlene) Walker of Gary, Ind., and Juanita (Roosevelt) Belton of Rock Hill; one sister-in-law, Estelle Brown of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one nephew, Anthony (Cordless) Smith of Kalamazoo; one aunt, Deloris Barber of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and loving cousins and close friends.
Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Gethsemane Church ion Rock Hill. Bishop B.R. Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Barber Memorial Cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
