YORK -- Mr. William "Bill" Parks Jr., 77, of 483 Carson Road, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in McConnells, S.C., with the Rev. Anthony Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Bill was born in York County, S.C., April 29, 1930, to the late William and Gaither Parks. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ms. Minnie Williams Griffin and a grandson, Tony Griffin.
He was educated in the York County school system and retired from the South Carolina Highway Dept. after 37 years of employment.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 49 years, Julia Mae Parks; two daughters, Gaither Lee Williams and Julia Faye Smith (Freddie) of York, S.C.; two sons, William Parks (Denise) of Charlotte, N.C., and John Parks Sr. of Clarksville, Tenn.; three grandchildren whom he helped raise, Tamarris Parks, John Parks Jr., and Justina Smith, along with eight additional grandchildren; one sister, Maggie Robinson; one brother, Henry Parks of York; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will have a visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Wright Funeral Home in York.
