The Rev. Dr. Harold M. Liner Sr.

CHESTER -- The Rev. Dr. Harold M. Liner Sr., 87, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Chester Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. John Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Born April 7, 1920 in Polk County, N.C., Dr. Liner was a son of the late H.G. and Sally Henderson Liner. He was a Church of the Nazarene minister and pastored churches in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene Chester.

Dr. Liner received a B.A. from Wingate College and a PhD from Independent Baptist Seminary. He received an honorary doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene College.

He was the widower of Martha Lear Liner.

Survivors are two sons, Harold M. Liner Jr. and wife, Hazel of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Mark A. Liner and wife, Wanda of York, S.C.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Willard Lois Powles and husband, Bill of Concord, N.C.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 182 Pinckney St., Chester, SC 29706.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church sanctuary.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
