SYCAMORE, Ga. -- Funeral services for Sybil Ruth Akridge Britt, 78, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Ken Kicklighter, Donnie Duncan and Wynton Lee will officiate. Mrs. Britt died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Britt was born in Baker County, Ga., and was a daughter of the late H.E. and Lucille Akridge. She was a longtime resident of Sycamore and was a life long homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed pickling, shelling peas and making blackberry jelly. She loved doing all the things that made her a good farmer's wife. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and her oldest great-grandsons, Cameron Britt, Damon Britt, Drew Britt, Josh McDuffie, Jay Durden and Jesse Snow. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Chapman, Tom Sheffield, James Snow, David Durden and the Fidelis Sunday School class.
Mrs. Britt is survived by her husband of 64 years, Henry Britt of Sycamore, Ga.; five children, Monroe and Christie Britt of Townsend, Ga., David and Debbie Britt of Valdese, N.C., Shorty and Sue Britt of Tifton, Ga., Billy Britt of Sycamore and Susan Britt of Rock Hill, S.C. Also surviving are two sisters, Inez Yarbrough of Irwinville, Ga., and Louise Dean of Alma, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Perry funeral Chapel. Visitors will be received at the home, 430 Britt Road, Sycamore, Ga., prior to visitation.
