Sarah Spelts

ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Sarah Chloe Vicars Spelts, 82, of 2516 Harmony Road died on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Wyatt officiating and her two nephews, the Revs. Don Alexander Jr. and Clifford Vicars assisting. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.

A native of Lee County, Va., Mrs. Spelts was the daughter of the late Franklin Vicars and the late Bobbie Lee Gilliam Vicars. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. She retired from JP Stevens with 24 years of service and from Contemporary Classics in Monroe, N.C. She was the widow of James Thomas Spelts.

Mrs. Spelts is survived by her sons, Larry J. Spelts, Randy J. Spelts and Michael W. Spelts and wife, Cristle, all of Rock Hill, David T. Spelts and wife, Paula of Sunset Harbor, N.C., and Daniel "Bruce" Spelts and wife, Gail of Belton, S.C.; her sisters, Doris Alexander of Duncan, S.C., Knolf Johns of Taylors, S.C., and Bobbie Chapman of Whitmire, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, of whom she helped raise the two oldest, Larry Jr. and Sheree; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Aug. 31, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill and other times at the home of her son, Michael Spelts, 2536 Harmony Road, Rock Hill.
