YORK - David Melvin "D. M." Dickerson Jr., 85, of 406 Forest Drive, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at White Oak Manor in York.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at the York First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Don Thacker will be officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
Mr. Dickerson was born in Shelton, S.C., and was a resident of York, South Carolina. D. M. Dickerson, was a son of the late David Melvin Dickerson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Crowder Dickerson. He was a member of the York First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Dickerson was chairman of the board of Rick Ford, Ford Dealership in Clover. He served in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Philanthropic Masonic Lodge # 32 in York, York County Crescent Shrine Club, a long time member of the York Volunteer Fire Dept., and was a charter member of the York Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Walker Dickerson of York; son, Rick Dickerson, of Clover; and daughter, Beth Dickerson Stewart of Statesville, N.C., two brothers, James C. Dickerson and Julian Dickerson, both of York. Mr. Dickerson has seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ila Dickerson Ferguson.
Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church Parlor.
