ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Frances Grant Ashe, 77, of Asheville, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at her residence.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Groce United Methodist Church in Asheville, with the Revs. W. Gerald Davis and Uiyeon Kim officiating. Private interment will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.
Mrs. Ashe was born in Asheville, and was the daughter of the late Olin and Ada Betsil Grant.
In addition to living in Asheville for the last 41 years, Mrs. Ashe lived in Sumter, Camden, Rock Hill and North Palm Beach, Fla., with her husband, John B. Ashe.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ashe is survived by her daughter, Janet Ashe Willey of Candler; and her son, Steven John Ashe of Fairview; her granddaughters, Julie Case, Amanda Case and Laura Ashe; her grandson, Kevin Ashe; her sister, Mary Gravely of Charlotte, N.C.; and two brothers, Robert Grant of Rock Hill and James Grant of Belvedere.
Her family will receive friends Thursday at the church immediately following the memorial service.
