Lt. Cmdr. Margie Lee Carter, U.S. Navy, Retired

GREAT FALLS -- Margie Lee Carter, formerly of Great Falls, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Westminster Health and Rehab in Rock Hill, S.C.

Funeral services will be 3 Sunday at First Baptist Church of Great Falls, with the Rev. Greg Batchelor and the Rev. C.O. Belk Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born in Great Falls, a daughter of the late Luke O. Carter and Ola Temple Carter, Lt. Commander Carter was a graduate of Great Falls High School and Medical College of SC School of Nursing. She was a devoted registered nurse and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1970 after 25 years of service. She served during the Korean War and at Guantanimo Bay, Cuba. She received the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Medal and ribbon.

Survivors include one niece, Marilyn C. Powers and husband, Butch of Great Falls; one nephew, Wayne Carter and wife, Susan of Conway, S.C.; and sisters-in-law, Eunice and Ursula Carter of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 Sunday afternoon in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church.
