COLUMBIA -- Mr. Chambers Agurs, 1073 Henderson St. died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 in Columbia, S.C.

He was born to the late Chalmers and Eliza Featherstone Agurs. One sister preceded him in death, Lillie Mae Agurs. He attended the public schools of York County. He joined Big Calvary Baptist Church at an early age.

He is survived by six children, Lynn Dixon of Charlotte, N.C., Ronnie Perry (Marva) of Midtown, Ohio, Jennifer Steele of Rock Hill, Chambers Agurs Jr. of Baltimore, Md., and Michael Agurs of Rock Hill; four sisters, Annie Youngblood of Baltimore, Md., Betty Chambers (Bryan), Doris Walker and Angela R. Wade (William), all of Rock Hill; stepdaughter, Ann Jeanette Lightner; two stepgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Big Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rodney Adams officiating, the Rev. Ricky White delivering the eulogy and the Revs. Richard Howard and Michael Smith assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Parker Funeral Home in Rock Hill.
