LAKE WYLIE -- Mr. Robert "Bob" William Cuff, 82, of River Hills, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at home after a lengthy illness.
Bob, born May 5, 1925, in Jamaica, N.Y., was the son of the late George Arthur and Lois Langton Cuff. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving numerous awards and citations and being honorably discharged, Bob attended Duke University and graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in accounting.
After moving to Charlotte in 1958, Bob worked for Hoechst Celanese for 35 years, retiring in 1993 as a senior buyer. He was an active volunteer fireman for Sharon-Carmel Volunteer Fire Dept. for more than 30 years, as well as serving as an EMT with Charlotte Lifesaving Crew for 14 years. He was involved as a Little League baseball coach and Pop Warner football coach for many years.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Jean; daughter, Bonnie Cuff Floyd of Charlotte; son, Brian and wife, Nancy of Tega Cay; son, Dale and wife, Kathy of Charlotte; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Pineville Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte. A service to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Highway 49, Charlotte, with the Rev. Talbot Davis officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
