ROCK HILL -- Mr. Otis Odell (Whupcat) Wilson of 328 Roddey St., Rock Hill, died Monday Sept. 10, 2007, at home. He was born in York County, S.C., to the late Jim Hoyles and China Lee Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Mae Reid Wilson.
He attended the public schools of York County and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.
Mr. Wilson is survived by five sons, Otis R. (Claudette) Wilson, Bishop Billy R. (Phyllis) Wilson, Edward L. Reid, Stephen N. Wilson and Timothy A. Wilson, all of Rock Hill; six daughters, Pearlene A. Wilson, Carla D. Reid, Gwendolyn L. (Thomas) Richmond, Angela M. (Ronney) McCrorey, all of Rock Hill, Joyce (Ned) McCoy of Uniondale, N.Y., and Emma L. (John) Garvin of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a very close friend of the family, Joe Lee; 32 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lula B. Simpson of Rock Hill; and a host of relatives.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. John T. McCoy officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mr. Wilson may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home and from noon until time of the service Thursday at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Mr. Otis Richard Wilson, 1485 Red Oaks Drive.
