CLOVER -- Mr. James Craig Kendrick, 86, of Clover, S.C., died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at home.

He was a native of York County, S.C., and was a son of the late Robert Carl Kendrick Sr. and Lula Pearl Dameron Kendrick.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Faith United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Mason officiating. Interment will be at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, prior to the service in the church sanctuary and other times at the home.

Craig was a graduate of Clover High School in 1939 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a tractor mechanic who first retired from R & A Tractor Company and then from Andy Ratchford Tractor Company. He was a faithful church member and Christian who taught Sunday School, Bible Studies and was an Elder. He loved and found peace in his yardwork. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who is dearly missed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Critical Care Unit of Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill for their compassion and care.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Martha Sue Meek Kendrick; daughter and son-in-law, Judy Kendrick Bean and husband, Clark, all of Clover; grandchildren, Sharon Carr of Gastonia, Steven McKinney of Shelby and Lisa Murdock of Gastonia; great-granddaughter, Makaylah Armstrong; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Carl Kendrick Jr. and William Clyde Kendrick Sr.; sister, Margaret Ruth Kendrick Jackson; and a nephew, William "Bill" Clyde Kendrick Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Faith United Methodist Church, 1511 E. Ozark Ave., Gastonia, NC 28054 or to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
