ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Doris Ann Barber Reid of 718 Golden Bell Drive died Sept. 14, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Mrs. Reid was the daughter of the late Charles Barber and the late Annie Smith Barber and the wife of the late Lewis Wayne Reid. She attended the public schools of York County and graduated from Emmett Scott High School.

Surviving are two brothers, Charles Barber Jr. of the home and William H. Barber of Rock Hill; her sister, Mattie Simpson of Gastonia, N.C.; 3 stepdaughters, Rev. Mary Loretta Adams of Fort Mill, Adsila McIlwain (Harold) and Marie Sowell (Wendell) of Lancaster; three stepsons, Derick Lennon of Chicago, Ill., Wayne Heffney of Spartanburg and Cormen Hall of Main; and 16 grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mary Loretta Adams officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery. The body may be viewed from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home.

A Rock Hill, South Carolina man out of jail has been charged with the Valentine’s Day armed robbery and kidnapping of a man outside a store, police said. The suspect forced the victim to withdraw ATM money.
