ROCK HILL -- Mr. Richard "Dickie" Lee Ellis, 64, of 1630 Sturgis Road, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Carolinas Medical in Charlotte, N.C.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Revs. Jerry Devinney and Reid Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Ellis was a son of the late Robert Baxter Ellis and the late Pauline Ackerman Ellis. He worked for 29 years at Celanese as a chemical operator. He was a member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #385 and Oakdale Baptist Church, where he had served as a youth worker. He previously taught Sunday school and was a deacon at Catawba Baptist Church. He enjoyed welding and farming with special interest in his pet cows and dachshunds.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Helen S. Ellis of the home; his two sons, Richard Lee Ellis Jr. and wife, Patricia K., and granddaughter, Melissa S. Ellis, all of Narrows, Va., and Lance Ellis and granddaughters, Holly and Elizabeth Ellis, of Cedar Lake, Ind.; his two daughters, Kay E. Perry and husband, Burnie, and grandsons, Lee and Jonathan Perry, and Kelly A. Shugart and husband, Chris, and grandsons, Conrad, Coleton, and Caleb, all of Rock Hill; and his brother, C. Douglas Ellis and wife, Linda, of Rock Hill. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Edwin Ellis.
