CHARLOTTE -- Mrs. Hardin, 92, of the Lower Steele Creek area of Charlotte, passed away on Sept. 17, 2007. She was born on April 24, 1915 in York County, S.C., a daughter of the late James Randolph Currence and Ella Lee Brown Currence.
Jessie was a charter member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Steele Creek. She devoted her life to helping those in need. This included assisting the elderly with regular trips to the doctors. She loved and cherished her family and the many relationships she developed throughout the years.
She was a loving wife to her late husbands, William Leonard Brown, Joe Mason Smith and Robert Dewey Hardin, and devoted sister to her late brothers and sister, Ralph and Brainard Currence and Laura Adkins.
Survivors include her nephews, T.J., Robert and Jimmy Adkins, all of Charlotte, Ed Adkins of Rock Hill, Ken Adkins of Fort Mill, Joe Currence of Charlotte and Benny Currence of Monroe. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Barbara Gunter of Florida.

A service by the graveside will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2445 Hwy 557, Clover, S.C., with the Rev. Talbot Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
