David F. Eddleman Jr.

ROCK HILL -- Mr. David F. Eddleman, age 77, of 1616 Nicholson Ave., passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Woodhaven Baptist Church, with Dr. Tom Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park - Cherry Road.

A long time resident of Chester County, he was born in Norfolk, Va. and was a son of the late David F. Eddleman Sr. and Edna Cloud Eddleman Brantley of Rock Hill. Following graduation from Chester High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Eddleman was a charter member of Woodhaven Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He retired from Hoescht-Celanese Corporation, where he worked as a boiler room foreman for more than 30 years. He also was active in area youth sports programs, where he coached both football and baseball for more than 30 years. Following his retirement, Mr. Eddleman worked with the Rock Hill Parks and Recreation Department.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Roxie M. Eddleman of the home; three daughters, Donna E. Freeman and husband, Ron, of Surfside Beach, S.C., Janet E. Garrick and husband, Mike, and Lisa E. Emerson and husband, Guy, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his brother, Robert A. Eddleman of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jammie, Judson, Emilee, Haylee and Kendall; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Maddie, Gavin, Riley, Morgan and Mahayla. In addition to his father, Mr. Eddleman was preceded in death by his brother, Ray M. Eddleman.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, S.C. 29732, and other times at the home.
